Every year 7th April is celebrated as ‘World Health Day’. On this occasion, De-Addiction Centre at Shanti Nursing Home felicitates the patients who are off alcohol, with their spouses, in a programme called ‘Manuskicha Sohala’. This year it was celebrated on Sunday, 03rd April 2016 at Shanti Nursing Home. More than 400 people including the renowned personalities of medical fraternity &industrialists attended the programme. This was the successful 14th consecutive year of the programme.
The Guest of honor for the programme was famous writer and social worker Dr. Anil Awchat, Pune. Those patients who are off alcohol since 15 years were felicitated at the hands of Dr. Awchat.
Dr. Awchat on this occasion enumerated the importance of acceptance, medical treatment and consistent efforts to fight the battle of alcoholism. This will compel the patient to make change in himself.

Dr. Barhale further made an appeal to the audience that they should participate in a movement against alcoholism. “Alcoholism is a mental disorder and it needs to be treated” in all strata of society. If every one of us alble to motivate even a single alcoholic for taking treatment, that will be a great contribution to the society.
